Before meeting someone, it makes sense to me to make sure that the person you are about to meet doesn’t have a criminal background that could be dangerous to you. I think that it is important to ask permission to look up their criminal history. This way you are being honest with each other from beginning. If anything questionable is found, I would think twice about wanting to meet them. This holds true for men and women. My friends and I usually go to http://www.easybackgroundchecks.com. well the good thing about online dating is you get privacy but as you said one cant be sure who is on the other side untill one meets in person.

Perverts, sexual predators and weirdoes come in both sexes, all sizes, and all ages…as do, liars and cheaters and you can find them abywhere too, on the net, in churches, governments, civil and public servcies.. so beware..

I agree that men need to be wary of online “gold diggers” etc. However, I also think they need to be wary of women who are into “affairs”. Sad to say but women are manipulative and many women love the thought of being able to snag a man away from his wife or girlfriend just to be able to say they can. I know from experience! men..especially married men…be careful who you chat with online. An innocent conversation can turn potentially life damaging!
